What a cookie is

A cookie is a small text file that a website stores on your device when you visit. Different cookies do different things: some are essential for the site to load, some help the site remember a preference, and some are used by third parties for analytics or for advertising. Cookies set by the site you are visiting are called first-party cookies; cookies set by other domains loaded as part of the page are third-party cookies.

What Dialoq sets, and why

The publication uses a deliberately minimal set of cookies. The principle is simple: only what is needed to deliver the page, plus — with consent — anonymous analytics so we know which reviews are being read.

Essential storage

• dialoq_cookie_consent — a first-party browser-storage entry (technically a localStorage key, not a cookie in the strict HTTP sense) that records whether you have accepted or declined our use of analytics. Persists until cleared from your browser.

Analytics (only with consent)

• If you accept, we may load a privacy-respecting analytics script that records aggregate readership: how many visits each review receives, the country-level approximate location of readers, and the device category being used. The data is anonymous, is not used to identify individual readers, and is not shared with any advertising network.

What we do not set

Dialoq does not set any advertising cookies. We do not use cross-site tracking. We do not load social-media widgets that read cookies from other domains. We do not embed third-party scripts that set tracking cookies on the page load. We do not participate in real-time bidding or behavioural advertising of any kind. We particularly do not set any cookie that would be readable by, or shareable with, any of the four mobile operators we cover or any of their advertising partners.

Managing your preferences

On your first visit, a banner at the foot of the page asks you to accept or decline non-essential storage. You can change your choice later by clearing the consent entry from your browser's storage and reloading any page on the site.

You can also manage cookies through your browser. Most modern browsers allow you to view, block, or delete cookies and storage entries from specific domains. Consult your browser's help documentation for details. Disabling cookies on this or any other site may affect site functionality.

Revisions

If we change the cookies we set, we will revise this page and, where appropriate, ask readers to review their preferences again. The date at the top of the page records the most recent revision.
